Nineteen-year-old Marie (Sonia Suhl) lives in a remote Danish village with her seriously ill mother (Sonja Richter) and her father Thor (Lars Mikkelsen). When she suddenly becomes ill, Marie suspects she has inherited the same disease that has confined her mother to a wheelchair.
