Oliver Sim is best known as songwriter, bassist and vocalist in the xx, one of the biggest indie bands of the 00s. Hideous Bastard is his first solo album, albeit still with bandmate Jamie xx on production.

Hideous Bastard is the culmination of two years of writing and recording, inspired by Oliver Sim's love of horror films and his own experiences, where themes such as shame, fear and masculinity are addressed. Musically, the album feels like a natural extension of his work in the xx. Warm synth productions behind Oliver Sim's charismatic deep voice that exquisitely drivwa the tracks forward.
