Scott Simon
Dr. Scott Simon, a guitarist and singer/songwriter, started playing guitar after Elvis Presley passed away in 1977. After graduating from high school, Scott earned his AA in Music from Northern Oklahoma College, and performed throughout the state as lead guitarist for the NOC Roustabouts show troupe. Once completing his music degree, he was soon performing over 250 dates a year in a variety of rock, blues, country, and jazz bands throughout the mid west. He opened for countless top recording acts while he was lead guitarist and vocalist with the Southern Exposure Band. He toured for over five years on their Miller Brewing Company-sponsored performances across the USA. After a 2-year stint as House Guitarist at the colossal Cowboy's Red River club in Dallas, Scott returned to college at the University of North Texas to study music and explore his new found fascination with the Internet. Scott combined his love of music and the Internet while earning his PhD in 2005. Though stylistically diverse, Scott's main influences include the acoustic blues of Eric Clapton, the fingerstyle guitar of Leo Kottke, and singer/songwriters such as Jackson Browne, Don Henley and The Eagles, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Scott currently resides in the Tampa Bay area where he teaches at the University of South Florida and performs throughout the state. His new CD Visions highlights his bluesy acoustic guitar playing, heartfelt vocals, and seasoned songwriting skills.
