Twenty "must-have" tracks representing the most influential country and roots artists to come out of Saskatchewan's first century. These are the artists who opened doors for future generations of Saskatchewan artists. Most of them can seen on tour throughout Canada this year! A great addition to your collection, with a wide variety of tracks that will make you smile and tap your toes. Volumes 1 and 2 offer recordings from approximately 1970 to present day. On the rock/pop volume you'll find a cut from new hip-hop artist, Eekwol alongside a classic track from Streetheart, and a new recording from the Queen City Kids. It's a testament to the perseverance of our artists that nearly all of those featured on these two volumes are still performing today - some in new incarnations, such as the Kerns and Dahle brothers, formerly of Age of Electric, who now perform in several different several projects '' and some, such as the Northern Pikes, who have recently reunited and are sounding better than ever! On the country/roots volume you'll find a new version of "My Brother and Me" by Brad Johner, an artist who's been performing for over a decade - first in The Johner Brothers, and now achieving spectacular success as a solo artist. You'll hear a new track from Freddie Pelletier, one of our province's best guitarists; an early track from Humphrey and the Dumptrucks, one of our best-loved homegrown groups; and, from Ian Eaton, the song that was the first Saskatchewan video to be played on CMT. These are the artists who have inspired scores of young Saskatchewan "rockers and pickers" to grab a guitar, or to compile their thoughts as lyrics - true idols who made their mark, and will continue to do so, by writing good songs and performing with enthusiasm. To these and the many more incredible Saskatchewan artists, we owe a most sincere debt of gratitude for enriching our lives with their songs. This is our tribute to a long history of music on the prairies. Saskatchewan musicians and artists are not restricted by geographic or stylistic boundaries. Our musicians play in orchestras and symphonies, country and rock bands, and perform every imaginable style of music, in every corner of the globe. Our sound and lighting techs, our engineers and producers work with world-class international artists. We're proud of the music of Saskatchewan, the talent our province has nurtured, and the wealth of recorded material reflecting our diversity.
