Marie Kreutzer writes and directs this historical drama starring Vicky Krieps as Empress Elisabeth of Austria. In 1877, the year of her 40th birthday, Elisabeth is struggling. Striving to conform to the required standards of beauty and behaviour, she is becoming increasingly aware of her unhappiness and, worse, her inability to do anything about it.

Defiant, she searches for ways to regain control of her life. Florian Teichtmeister, Aaron Friesz and Colin Morgan also star.
