The Immersed Christion Congregation Version has been an attempt to help those who do not speak English as their first language and those who cannot understand old English. Working with those who speak Australian English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Filipino languages has opened my eyes to their need. There are many English versions in the world today and, like the KJV translators in their day did not want to criticize them, we don't either. They just admitted that it was time for another good English version that uses the Textus Receptus for its base. We have carefully consulted the KJV English translation along with other English versions of the Bible, and at the same time compared the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek renderings. The preface of the KJV that is just under 12,000 words was an attempt to explain what they were getting ready to launch and calm the fears of the believers who read other translations. They understood what controversy it would bring and I understand that many will not be happy with another English Version. The King James translators said in their preface that they tried to write their translation in the most vulgar language, meaning common. Within 100 years of the writing of their preface they would not have used the word vulgar. Why? Because the word meant something completely different. Updating language is very important. We have attempted to stay consistent in rendering all the manuscript words in the Bible with their proper English meanings. We did not use transliterations but translated properly from the original languages what the words mean. I've learned when preaching to the Vietnamese that sometimes one Viet word does not convey the meaning of an English word but sometimes takes a sentence to explain the meaning of the word. We have updated the language and punctuation in the ICCV. We also have taken the Old Testament names of people and places and replaced the Greek renderings in the New Testament with their Old Testament counterpart. We believed it would be less confusing in understanding where a place is or who a person is if their names matched what they were in the Old Testament. I pray that this translation helps you to understand God's word, enlightens your spiritual lives and draws you closer to the Lord.- Pastor Ed Sims
