Parker never in a million years thought she'd ever meet her favorite player. Let's be honest, for most people, Major League baseball, especially in Canada, was for watching on TV and cheering for your team from afar. No one would ever believe that she'd met her favorite player at a writer's conference five hours from home, or that he'd be playing on a team so close to home. Even more, no one would believe that he was attracted to her, that he wanted to have a relationship with her, that he was all in . . . and he was ten years younger. My career was in the tank, I was sinking fast and I was running out of options. Enter Erik Stevens and his new team, the Vancouver Bighorns. It might not be the Yankees or the Dodgers but it was a Major League team and they were willing to pay my salary and I still got to play baseball. And Stevens promised to help me fix that pesky hitting problem, you know, the one where I couldn't hit the ball if my life depended on it? Fast forward a few months and I find myself talking to my biggest fan, a siren of a woman lounging by the pool. Now I just had to convince her she was the woman for me and I was the man for her and life would be perfect.
