The Book of Galatians, perhaps like no other book in the Bible, reveals Paul's zealous message of spiritual freedom. It was written to remind the church at Galatia that salvation is a free gift of grace, given to them through Christ's death on the cross. Yet, due to false teaching that seeped into the church, they allowed themselves to compromise their conviction of the true gospel and soon returned to the old restrictions and man-made religion of the Law."O foolish Galatians!", Paul pleads in his impassioned letter, "who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified...did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law or by hearing with faith?" (Galatians 3:1-2) While the circumstances of the church at Galatia may have been different, the message is a warning to believers today. Who, once having been set free, willingly returns to prison? A small deviation from the Gospel as written in God's word has the potential to lead right back to spiritual shackles. Written in a verse-by-verse expository format, this study will not only guide the reader to see the scriptural evidence of the gospel of grace, but also to understand and apply the principles of what it means to walk in freedom. It addresses and examines various applications of this understanding of our faith, such as: - The difference between walking in grace and the misuse of freedom- The value of Christian community- How to identify false teachers- How to stand firm in the faith- How to have a strong spiritual walkWhether you struggle with the spiritual shackles of defeat and confusion, or simply want to gain a better grasp of God's promise of freedom to the believer, this study offers insight to break this chains and continue in victory.
