Nothing Compares

The book is set in the North of England, where Wilsons Christian Ministerial parents had settled, after moving from Jamaica. They set up home in Cheshire, England where they built a strong Christian following of Caribbean people. Wilson Emmanuel Johns their first born, weighed in at 9lbs and some 23' long. He was athletic in build from the time that he started walking, and it was apparent that he had the promise to make it as a potential athlete, being 6' 2" tall when fully grown. He was not the most gifted at school academically, but made up for it in other ways, such as his facial features, good looks, football ability, and athleticism. Wilson was not work-shy, as anything that he put his mind to, he made it work. He quickly built up strong friendships at his local high school, with Joseph being his best friend. Joseph came from a poorer family on the Liverpool side of Cheshire, and they quickly became friends that lasted throughout the years. It was obvious that they would follow different directions in life, with Joseph quickly finding his feet in gang warfare, killings and his gang accepting contracts to kneecap people, as a means of income. Wilson followed a more traditional route of leaving school, serving an apprenticeship as a plumber. He progressed to becoming self-employed and met Cynthia, and older wealthy lady, who was to redirect his future career and earnings through suggestions made to him. He took Cynthia's advice and worked diligently to become one of the best male models in the world, attaining 'supermodel' status. He became an extremely wealthy man and moved from 'rags to riches.'Joseph meanwhile carried on doing what he knew best by taking risks. This continued when he was approached by a British counterfeiting gang. He was to join them in distributing counterfeit money in return for the dream of becoming rich. However, problems occurred, which put on hold Joseph's plans of becoming a millionaire. Gang warfare continued and the murders committed by Joseph and his gang were always hanging over him. Joseph had to endure police enquiries who were pursuing the disappearance of opposition gang members that had recently been let out of prison. Retributive gang warfare continued with more killings taking place which put Joseph's life at risk. Wilson struggled with having a number of failed female relationships in his life. Eventually finding the girl of his dreams. They set up home together when their plans nearly went awry, as something unforeseen happened, that could have prevented his plans for his big future career taking place.
