Complicit Mercies

After the loss of his mother, Ames Lockhart becomes a volunteer at the hospital where she died. In a small coastal town, he finds his talent for giving hope to the infirm and injured. Underneath his cheery guise, though, guilt crushes him as terminal patients in agonizing pain beg for peace yet get none in pre-euthanasia America. Into his moral dilemma comes a spunky young woman who gives him hope against his own pain. Ames' good luck is threatened though when a detective suspects his involvement in questionable suicides.
