Fifteen Years Behind Bars and I was Innocent!

We've all done it. We're driving along the Interstate at 65 plus mph when we see the sign: Prison Area - Do Not Pick-Up Hitchhikers. A minute later we're alongside the prison. We glance at the prison out of curiosity and a few seconds later we're gone. In that fleeting second, we wonder what it really is like being a guest of the state. The author knows. He spent more than fifteen years in a women's prison. Fortunately, he could go home at night. His experiences as a correctional officer, correctional sergeant, and counselor provide realistic, positive, and often humorous insights into everyday life in a rehabilitative correctional environment. This work's intent is two-fold: 1. To help free women remain free; and 2. To help incarcerated women find the strength not to return to prison. It highlights many issues faced each day by women in prison today. Some issues are vey serious, poignant, or thoughtful. Some may be quite humorous.
