A quasi-cautionary novella about how career development is a process, as opposed to an exact science with Yonsei adding plenty of sex and curveballs to the mix. With Yonsei in fine voice, her narrator is Paige Turner and it's her raucous odyssey of career moves we follow as she reflects on her past whilst setting out on a road trip that will see her start afresh. That Yonsei knows so much about the legal world gives her novella a payload boost and the degree of authenticity it wouldn't have been so good without. With Paige possessing the insights you'd expect from someone in her profession this all makes for a rock-solid foundation but it's Paige's autobiographical stamp combined with Yonsei's razor-sharp wit that will keep you turning the pages. Lines like "My interpretation of QuickBooks was based on how fast I could book a flight on Expedia.com" will have you laughing out loud whilst others like "I had become conscious and aware enough to choose what I paid attention to and how I construct meaning from experience" will certainly give way to a good deal of reflection. Add more than a few raunchy encounters to the mix and what Yonsei leaves us with is a wild, imaginative and valuable read that's hard to put down. Definitely one to have on your reading radar Law Firm Confidential is highly recommended.
