The world?s population is expected to exceed 8 billion in 2025, an increase of 2.5 billion in 25 years. To meet the projected food demands, the average yield of all the cereals must be 80 percent higher than the average. Green Revolution exploited our resource base intensely, resulting in degradation of the environment, decline in the productivity and human health overall. Sustainability thus gained a major attention among the research workers of the time. Application of sole chemical fertilizers has laid deleterious effect on fertility and productivity status of the soil. Moreover, insufficient use of organics has created deficiencies of secondary as well as micronutrients, like Zn and Fe. Conjunctive use of organic and inorganic sources of plant nutrients in balanced proportion would help to sustain the productivity and biological health of the soil. This book highlights various technological cost effective management approaches which has out yielded the conventional approaches of rice cultivation and give research workers a food for thought to extend their horizons further, in terms of scientific research in the topic, for the welfare of the people.
