In the present investigation, information has been collected on about 63 plants used for medicinal purposes of Irulas and MudugasTribes. Based on the information gathered, nine plants viz., Pelargonium, graveolens, Ocimum basilicum, Cympopogan citratus, Eucalyptus globulus, Ruta chalepensis, Premna corymbosa, Plactranthus amboinicus, Placanthus barbatus and Scoparia dulcis were selected and their ethanolic extraction of the leaves were made by Soxlet apparatus. Essential volatile oils were obtained from the leaves by steam distillation. Mosquito repellent formulation like coil, skin lotion, mat and liquidizer was done by using plants products in combination with inert substances. And the efficiency of repellent products were tested against vector mosquitoes, Anopheles stephensi, Liston, Culex quinquefasciatus Say, Aedes aegypti (Linn.), Smoke repellent activity, skin repellent activity, the maximum Liquid Mosquito Insecticide Extract Formulation (LMIEF), vapourising mats were carried out against vector mosquitoes. Among the nine plants tested Pelargonium, graveolens was foud to be more effective in the smoke repellent, skin repellent activity against three vector mosquitoes tested.
