Agricultural Practices and Farm Households' Food Insecurity: Farm Households' Food Insecurity, Determinants and Coping Strategies: the Case of Fadis District, East Hararge, Ethiopia

The Problem of Food insecurity exists when all people, at all times, have no physical and economic access to enough, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy lifestyle. Worldwide many million people are chronically hungry due to extreme poverty. Achieving food security in its totality continues to be a challenge not only for the developing nations, but also for the developed world. This is proved by the typical (2008) global hunger and high price of food. This book, therefore, identifies the causes and intensities of farm households' food insecurity. It also examines coping mechanisms adopted by the farm households to immune themselves from the problem of food insecurity. This book can serve Policy makers, Development partners like extension workers, and local and international NGOs interested in promoting rural development to assist and direct the vulnerable farm households. Along with, the analysis would add to the wealth of information currently available on the determinants, and local coping strategies on Farm Households' food insecurity.
