The book of the damned, of the dead. A slaughterhouse once sat for decades of productivity until the black beef plague hit and soon Greywick's slaughterhouse dissipated, along with it his mind. Three intersecting stories all touch base with the slaughterhouse. Riley Murdock, the 12 year old girl, who was abandoned as a child to her grandparents farm, only dreams of leaving the farm as she is stuck caring for her blind grandmother after her grandfather died. She will escape the farm by any means, even poisoning. Rody Harvick is a Vietnam Vet stuck in a asylum where he has been banned from the rec room and has to write a journal to describe his problems in order to get back into the rec room where he runs havoc on the hearts table. Only Rody Harvick is not what he seems. Joe Matesvac is a young naïve child psychologist who comes to Mayflower Children's Home & Society with the hopes of making it a better place only to realize the flamboyant woman in charge of the girl's home is more caught up in her glamour than the care of the girls. A strange custodian seems to be in charge of "special care' of children, as the ones that are too ugly she gets rid of. There is a little girl who may not be a little girl who may not even be alive that the characters come into horrific contact with. The ending becomes a powderkeg of fire and blood as a 'white storm' moves in during what precedes the moments of the JW Lollar novel, The Vacant Sullen.
