On the Journey to Ithaka

Our lives are a journey where we continually learn about ourselves and the world in which we find ourselves, and then we die. This anyway, is the model given to us by the Greek-Egyptian poet Constantine Cavafy in his poem, Ithaka. This splendid travelogue tells us that the goal of life is unimportant; the essential thing is to have enjoyed the journey. And to have profited from the experience of living to have discovered who you are. In this way, you will be in a better place to deal with that inevitable ultimate reality of life. The subject of this book is time and its ambiguity, and how we use our short allotted span of this precious, conserved quantity. The major theme of this volume is the message of the Buddha, there is no way to happiness; happiness is the way.
