The Hill: Rite of Passage on the Little Bighorn Rite of Passage: A phrase defining an individual or cultural transformation from one plane of existence to another. June 1876: Coming over the hill disguised as the United States Cavalry, the devil incarnate is prepared to destroy the lives of all in his path and change the destiny of a culture. As a result, two men of differing backgrounds undergo separate rites of passage on a bloody battlefield in southern Montana. Fearful, facing insecurity and terror, a seventeen-year-old Lakota Warrior named Bear becomes enmeshed in death and destruction on the slopes of a hill above the Little Bighorn River, and by days end his youth is gone. Beyond his worst nightmare, horrific events destroy his innocence, thrusting him into adulthood. Seventh Cavalry Sergeant Ezekiel Grubbs follows a charismatic commander into the valley of the Little Bighorn River. Accepting the danger, and against overwhelming odds, Sgt. Grubbs and Bear face one another across the battlefield. One survives.
