The Benefit of Ugly: Is based on a true story. Dogg is a street niggah. At least he thinks that he is. The Problem is he cannot be the niggah he images himself to be-not living in his mother's apartment. But all of that changes after his mother searches his bedroom and finds the gun used in a shooting. Now Dogg must choose between living in the city that he has loved his entire life, or reestablishing himself across the state in a suburban town that he never heard of. Travel with the teenager as he struggles to find balance within his old lifestyle and relationships, while simultaneously attempting to navigate suburban culture and make new acquaintances in Philipsburg, New Jersey.
