The Old Man, the Boy and the Mountain is a love story. The love of a man for his adopted son Jodie. And the love of a man for his home, Smith Mountain. Rex, the old man, has always lived a hard life on the mountain but his joy is in anticipating his time with Jodie. In the latter days of his life a wonderful woman, Janice, Bitter Creek's librarian, also comes into his life. Despite a near-fatal accident alone in the woods, Rex truly feels that he is blessed with love and companionship that many men take for granted.
