Black in America

Black in America is a memoir with an overall theme of growth and defeating immeasurable odds. Thompson's account begins with the difficulties slavery created for the lineage of blacks and the effect it had on his future. Details of his mother's upbringing, her struggles as a single mother, as well as her demise in 2003, highlight the obstacles he had to overcome to become the man he is today. Black in America is not a book written for an audience of a specific ethnic background. The memoir is written for anyone (no matter what color or creed) who feels defeated or thinks it is impossible to overcome the most difficult circumstances in life.
