War of the Worlds (The War of the Worlds) is a science fiction novel by HG Wells, published in 1898. This is one of the first works that confronts mankind with an alien race hostile1, in addition to being a reflection of the anguish of the Victorian era and imperialism. War of the Worlds was adapted into radio dramas (including a version of Orson Welles who made headlines in 1938), role play, comic and two feature films (the first was directed by Byron Haskin in 1953 and second by Steven Spielberg in 2005).
