Billy Newcomb was one day short of his eight birthday when his mother went to the store for milk and eggs and never came back. Will Wilson is just an ordinary guy, somewhat underemployed as a part time Drug Court counselor and part time short order cook. Orphaned and adopted as a child, he's never felt the need to revisit his past until the senseless murder of a young woman provides the catalyst that sets him on a quest to discover who his mother was and what happened to her. Helped by his Internet-savvy girlfriend, he follows a zigzagging trail of clues from North Carolina to Boston until he uncovers the truth about not only his mother, but his father and himself.
