Boisterous students at the University of Virginia chase parties, grades, romance, and honor, in this action novel sited in one of the most iconic colleges in America. The storyline traces the glories and picadelos of three third-year students operating from Room 401 of historic Breckenridge Hall, through their graduations at the all-male university. All-American lacrosse player, Elmo Wallbanger, makes good grades and is popular, Bones Toliver is a smart pre-med student, Kong Craddock plays football on and off. Adding to the revelry and predicaments, their mates and an ill-tempered wreck of an automobile also help fill the air with soot bombs and cacophonous noises around the hallowed Grounds of UVA, and any other place its daredevil driver attempts to drive it. The time is the 1950s, brassy overture to fundamental social changes in America. Readers can forget the University's all-male status, for these worthies move mountains to attract prime women to participate in their romances and off-the-wall events. Females in the women's colleges surrounding them are wonderfully collaborative and hot to trot. Besides adventure and humor galore, the storyline includes a memorable love story that dramatically affects the lives of the main characters.
