Publisher Marketing: Dan Demarest was a miserable child. He grew up shy, scared, and picked on while his nightmares reflected and amplified his daily plight. He got a break in his teens the form of a sweet girl who became the love of his life. She was a dream come true until he lost her in a tragic accident. His world immediately falls apart. The misery of the constant depression during the day is only surpassed by the long forgotten nightmares that plagued his nights. In a desperate attempt for peace and to quiet his mind he tries meditation. After months of effort he achieves a measure of silence, but he also finds a new sense of the world that surrounds him. He feels objects and people without seeing or hearing them. The new ability proves useful at first as he using it to win at gambling, but the blessing quickly turns to a curse as he finds himself thrust into dangerous situations. He senses a girl in extreme peril and there is no one else around to intervene which forces him to act despite his extreme aversion to confrontation. After facing the business end of a handgun he swears to never get involved again, but he discovers he can't escape his psychic duty. He is discovered by a police detective with his own agenda for Dan's ability. Dan thinks he is safe now that he has a cop on his side, but instead he finds himself taking ever increasing risks. He soon finds himself face to face with a serial killer but then things get even worse as he gets involved in the underground world of organized crime as he fulfills his psychic duty.
