The End of War: the Last Three Months of Ww II in Europe

?April 1945, the war in Europe is coming to an end. There are diplomatic moves to resolve many issues about liberated lands. Poland is the big question. Stalin has initiated his proxy government. The Free Polish Leaders in Great Britain pressure British Prime Minister Winston Churchill to negotiate a settlement for the creation of their government as well as their boundaries. Germany is in the throes of defeat with negotiations to end the war underway, especially with regards to a German Army still standing in Norway. Final Agreements are negotiated between the United States, Great Britain and the Soviet Union. Public opinion about Russia, an Ally in Europe, has changed. Harry Hopkins, Special Envoy to Truman journeys to Moscow to adjudicate issues. One major point of contention is the Soviet Union?s vasilating on entering the war against Japan. They cite the need for Clearance from China to invade Manchuria. To expedite matters, the US will provision with supplies their military effort to do so for three months, are negotiated. The End of War presents all the documents and negotiations. Agreements between Truman and Stalin are forwarded back and forth between Moscow and the US military leadership trying to refine the final terms and conditions of surrender. Churchill, having seen the governments of Europe replaced by Dictators following WWI, now sees the Soviet Movement to create buffer States in Eastern Europe as a threat: In desperation he writes to President Truman ? ?bringing Soviet power into the heart of Western Europe and the decent of an iron curtain between us and everything in the East?.
