Mabel is a kind-hearted, gentle young girl. Through her adventures in the woods, she makes new friends and finds her courage.




Living on the edge of the woods, Mabel is wary of the creatures that her grandma has warned her of. The creatures that would surely eat Mabel all up. But after a strange encounter, Mabel learns how to speak to the animals. Soon, she is able to use this skill to help both the animals and the villagers who live close by.




Unbeknownst to anyone, danger is close at hand, and Mabel's new skill and relationships will be put to the test.




Written by Harry Thurston Peck and originally published in 1889, this is a classic tale that is beloved by children and adults alike. Peck was a Latin Professor who wrote mostly on literature and contributed to magazines and newspapers. He also wrote poetry, and of his fiction publications, Mabel's adventures have proven to be his most popular and cherished story.
