All six episodes from the 1971 BBC series based on Elizabeth Gaskell's 19th century novel. Molly Gibson (Zhivila Roche) is brought up in relative comfort by her widowed father, Dr. Gibson (Alan McNaughtan).

However, his decision to remarry results in drastic changes to Molly's daily life as she welcomes her new stepmother and stepsister into her home. The episodes are: 'The Widower', 'The Bride', 'The Daughters', 'Rivals', 'Sisters' and 'Marriages'.
