My Bitter Sweet Life

Publisher Marketing: "Juanita Jones" was a small town girl that grew up hard but was bound for another life. Her home life left much to be desired, with a mother who could care less and a brother and sister she had to feed. She lost her heart and a whole lot more at an early age; and put "Juanita" away for life. Changing her name to Cookie, she vowed never to let anything or anyone hurt her again. If a name change were all it took to change what hurt us deep within, no one's name would be the same. Now, in the seventies hot pants and Afros where the thing, and every man desired the dark-skinned beauty named Cookie, or so it seemed. If she could go back and change one thing in her life, it would be the men she chose. It took a few heart aches for this one to learn that love that isn't love doesn't love you back. In Cookie's life, it was "get life before it got you." But this way of thinking would take her down roads unimagined, and from some of which she would never recover. She realized if she was going to get out of it, had to be of her own doing. Cookie got smart, and wanted more out life than a married man could offer. Friends in high places set her on her journey to becoming one of the most sought-after clothing designers in New York City. Life taught Cookie how to survive, and that sometimes life gives us second chances.
